Shahid Afridi reacts after Shadab Khan gets appointed as Pakistan’s T20I skipper

Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi has commented about Shadab Khan getting appointed as Pakistan’s T20I captain for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. Shadab has been appointed as the regular skipper Babar Azam has been given a break to ‘strategically manage his workload’.

“Congratulations to @76Shadabkhan on being selected as the captain for the Pak vs Afg series! A wise decision by PCB to rest senior players and give talented young leaders like Shadab a chance to shine. Excited to see him prove himself on the field!” Shahid wrote on Twitter

Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi is having a good time in the ongoing Pakistan Super League as the skipper of the Lahore Qalandars. Under his leadership, the defending champions have won six out of seven matches so far. Shaheen has also delivered with the ball as he has picked up 10 wickets in seven matches with Lahore looking to repeat the glory.

Earlier, Shahid also commented when another former skipper Misbah-ul-haq praised the captaincy skills of his son-in-law Shaheen Afridi. Misbah said that Shaheen’s ability to foresee things is brilliant. He also added that Shaheen has the long term thinking that only comes after years of experience.

‘He’s (Shaheen) using all of his resources’ – Misbah

“Shaheen’s ability to foresee things is brilliant. He’s using all of his resources, even if he doesn’t need them. It’s like keeping your gun polished, so it isn’t broken when you need it the most,” Misbah said.

“They didn’t need David Weise, but Shaheen bowled him effectively. Sikander Raza also bowled, and so did Hussain Talat. Shaheen has a long-term thinking, and one usually gets that after a long period of captaincy. He’s only in his second season as captain, so that’s something special,” he further added.

Shahid said that he doesn’t think that Misbah has talked to Shaheen. He, later, stated that Shaheen uses everyone to remain confident in big games.

“I don’t think Misbah has talked to Shaheen, but I’ve been in touch with for the past 2-3 days. Jo Misbah baatein kar raha hai, Shaheen ne mujhse ki hain (Whatever Misbah is saying, Shaheen told me the exact same things.) He said that he wants to use everyone, so they remain confident in big games,” Shahid Afridi said.
