Pakistan-born Zimbabwe international, Sikandar Raza displayed a brilliant effort during Lahore vs Quetta game in the ongoing PSL 8. In the fifth over of the Quetta Gladiators innings, Will Smeed whacked the ball over deep midwicket off Rashid Khan. As the ball was traveling, it looked like it will sail over for a six. However, Raza had other ideas as he plucked the ball from thin air.

After this, the Zimbabwe player flicked the ball inside the field as he knew he would go over the boundary. With this effort, the right-hander saved four runs as the batters took two runs in the meantime. That must have lifted the team up in a difficult game that they had. Meanwhile, the video of the incident has been going viral.

Meanwhile, in the game, the defending champions, Lahore was asked to bat first after losing the toss. With the bat, the home team lost seven wickets for mere 50 runs. At this point, Raza shook hands with Rashid Khan and put together 69 runs for the eighth wicket. During the partnership, the former did most of the scoring. Thanks to their partnership, the team reached 148 all-out.

In reply, the 2019 winners, Gladiators had a great start as their openers Yasir Khan and Will Smeed put together 53 runs in just six overs. However, after their partnership was broken, they kept losing wickets and were folded for 131/7. They lost the game by 17 runs.

“I didn’t think batting slowly and posting 110 was going to win us the game,” Player of the Match Raza said. “I wanted to give our bowlers something to bowl to. And when we put up 148 I knew we’d done a good job.” Praises Rashid, too.

“I think we run well, we understand each other well. Because we’re both pretty innovative with our shotmaking as well we know we’re going to find enough boundaries. I think there was variable bounce, and there was a lot of natural variation. Credit to the bowlers to restrict Quetta on that track. Incredible effort.”
