Over the years, Rashid Khan has been one of the most difficult bowlers in T20 cricket. Not many batters have been able to hit him for boundaries in the shortest format. Apart from AB de Villiers and Chirs Gayle, not many come to mind while talking about targetting Khan. Meanwhile, in the ongoing inaugural season of SA20, Marco Jansen from the Sunrisers Eastern Cape hit the leggie for 28 runs.

The incident happened during the game between MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The game was played at the Newlands, Cape Town. In the 16th over of the SEC’s innings, Jansen clobbered Rashid for three sixes and a four. The dot ball in the over didn’t bother much as the Orange Army managed to collect 28 runs as they needed 67 runs off the last five overs.

After hitting the six, I decided to see what happens next: Marco Jansen

Thanks to the South Africa international’s 66 off 27 balls, the Sunrisers won the game by two wickets. Batting first, MICT amasses 171/6, thanks to Ryan Rickelton (46), Grant Reolofsen (56), Delano Potgieter (21*), and Odean Smith (25*). In reply, the Eastern Capes were dead and buried after losing six wickets for 101 runs in 14.1 overs. However, Marco’s innings in the slog over ensured that the team won by two wickets.

The left-arm pacer and the right-handed batter was adjudged the Player of the Match. During the post-match presentation, the youngster spoke about his innings. On him getting the better of Rashid, he said “Well, it’s only one day (laughs), but he’s a world-class bowler. Luckily, today, it went my way.” (On being asked if he targeted Rashid) “At that stage, we had to make a plan, we had to pick one bowler. After the first ball went for six, I just decided to see what happens and try and go with it.”
