Shahid Afridi warns Babar Azam ahead of Pakistan’s semifinal against New Zealand in 20-20 World Cup 2022
After the Netherlands provided Pakistan a chance to qualify for the semis, the 2009 winners ensured they made the most of it. Apparently, Pakistan fans were hoping for their side to beat Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to beat India for them to reach the semis. No one thought the Dutch would beat South Africa in the first of the three games played on November 6.
However, before bowing out, the European side kicked out the Proteas from the semis race. With this, they created a chance for Pakistan and Bangladesh to reach the semis o the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. In reply, the former champions made the most of their chances and beat their Asian neighbors to finish in the top two of the Group Two points table.
Ahead of the knockout game, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has issued a warning for Babar Azam. The 2009 20-20 World Cup winner has said that the Azam must be rigid in winning games but flexible in making plans. Afridi also insisted the current Pakistan skipper ask Mohammad Haris to bat in the opening slot
“@babarazam258 We need fire power at the top with batters who are showing clear intent like Haris and Shahdab. Plz consider Haris opening with Riz and you one down followed by ur next best hitter. You should be rigid on winning the match and flexible on a balanced batting line up,” Afridi said in his tweet.
