Shakib Al Hasan Shares His Views On Boycotting The Indian T20 League
Shakib Al Hasan is known as a great all-rounder for Bangladesh due to his huge contribution throughout his career. However, now, he is currently on a leave from Bangladesh’s ongoing tour of Zimbabwe. On Friday, 29 July 2022, he attended a program in the United States with Bangladesh actor Shakib Khan.
There, both of them spoke to some fans and several questions were asked. There, a fan asked Shakib if he would be available for the next edition of the Indian T20 League. Notably, no franchise considered him during the last edition of that rich-vein tournament despite having a great last season in the Bangladesh T20 League. In reply to that, Shakib shared his views regarding his future in that league.
“Not just Indian T20 League there is no point to boycott any leagues,” – Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan said that playing in that league is a huge opportunity. It helps to learn many things about the game. He said: “Look there’s less room for emotion as you can’t consider everything with emotions. Indian T20 League is such a platform where players from all over the world want to play the tournament. Playing here is always a great opportunity for the players and the experience you gain playing there is a big thing.”
Shakib also added how the tournament helped him earlier in 2019 during his time with the Hyderabad franchise. “I didn’t play games ahead of the 2019 World Cup and I had to sit on the bench for the entire one and half months. But while staying there, I learned how to become the best in the world by watching the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Rashid Khan, David Warner, Kane Williamson, and others. Just by being in the same team as them, I realized why they rule the world cricket, and had I not been in the Indian T20 League, I would not have known that.” he added.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder also said that it helped him to perform so well in the 2019 World Cup. “I am trying to reach that level and I think Indian T20 League helped me a lot and I got the result during the 2019 World Cup. Whether it’s the Indian T20 League or Caribbean T20 League, it’s very important and the amount of experience I gain eventually benefits Bangladesh cricket. Not just Indian T20 League there is no point to boycott any leagues,” Shakib concluded.
