‘Sher wapas zaroor aayega’ – Fans react as CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan provides update on MS Dhoni’s surgery and his availability for IPL 2024
MS Dhoni, the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), might get surgery on his left knee as the veteran would consult with sports orthopaedics in Mumbai, according to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan on Wednesday. Although Dhoni appeared to be in good health at the time, there were times when he was spotted limping while rushing between the wickets as a sign of the injury. He played the full IPL 2023 season.
“Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call. Even a player of Ben Stokes’ stature despite his nature was brilliant around the group and the youngsters looked up to him,” Viswanath was quoted as saying.
The IPL 2023 title is a tribute to MS Dhoni: Ravindra Jadeja
“This has been possible because of our captain. I have been associated with CSK from season 1 and we have never deviated from our process. The key has been to keep things simple and explain to every player what is expected of them. In our franchise, the skipper keeps everything uncomplicated,” the CSK CEO added.
Given the recent series of injuries to its star players, Viswanathan was asked whether the fifth IPL victory felt the sweetest.”It’s all about team spirit and every player knowing his role which is very well defined in our setup. “He is very happy but there were no celebrations. The players dispersed for their respective destinations from Ahmedabad only. Also if you have seen CSK, we are never big on celebrations. t will be completely Dhoni’s call. But I can tell you in CSK, we haven’t entertained those thoughts,” Viswanath asserted.
Ravindra Jadeja gave MS Dhoni a tribute after CSK claimed their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) championship. Jadeja, who scored the game-winning run, said that CSK won the league this year to give tribute to Dhoni, the favourite of the supporters. Jadeja hit a six down the middle while needing 10 off the final two deliveries before flicking the final delivery for four to fine leg. With that final barrier, CSK successfully cemented their place in history.
