Ahead of India’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka, Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the ODI team. He hasn’t been playing T20I cricket since mid-2021. The left-hander was an integral part of the ODI setup of the Men In Blue. However, the 2013 Champions Trophy hasn’t had a great form with the bat this year. He has only managed 688 runs in 22 games at an average of 34.40 and a poor strike rate of 74.21.

Due to this, the opening batter has been dropped from the team. Post snub, Dhawan posted an emotional video. In the video, he was training and the caption suggests that he isn’t ready to give up yet. Not to forget, India has started their preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, the post has been been deleted a few hours after posting. It was captioned “It is not about winning or losing, it is all about your guts. Keep working hard and leave the rest in the hands of God,” Dhawan had written in the caption in Punjabi.

It’s unfortunate if Shikhar Dhawan’s career ends this way: Dodda Ganesh

After Dhawan’s snub, former India pacer Dodda Ganesh expressed his concern over the former’s career. Ganesh started by saying that Dhawan is one of the finest ODI cricketers and has been a match-winner. Dodda fears that Dhawan’s career might have ended with the World Cup approaching in less than a year.

“Does this mean it’s the end of the road for Shikhar Dhawan as an international cricketer? He was a mighty-fine ODI batter and won India many a games and tournaments. It’s really unfortunate if his career ends in this fashion,” he tweeted.
