Shoaib Akhtar Issues Warning To Virat Kohli On His Way To Score 100 International Centuries
On 8 September 2022, Virat Kohli finally managed to score his 71st International hundred for India. This ton came after a huge gap of 1021 days. Against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022, he scored 122* runs off 61 balls. His inning helped India to post a huge total of 212 runs by losing two wickets in 20 overs.
Eventually, India won the match by a big margin of 101 runs. After this majestic ton, the whole cricketing fraternity came up with some congratulatory tweets. Now, former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar issues a warning for Kohli on his path to scoring 100 International centuries for India.
‘Yeh tees centuries aapko nichod ke chodengi’ – Shoaib Akhtar on Virat Kohli
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Shoaib Akhtar said that Virat Kohli is back on the track to scoring 100 International centuries. But, it will not be easy for him as it will drain him out fully. He said: “Virat Kohli, you have always spoken the truth and good things will happen with you. Remember that yeh tees centuries aapko nichod ke chodengi (these 30-odd centuries will be difficult to come). But don’t lose courage because you will end up being the greatest of all time. So keep pushing yourself.”
He also added that it will be a very tough road for him after scoring this ton within a gap of 900 days. Eventually, Kohli scored this hundred after a gap of 1021 days. “I have always maintained that Virat is the greatest batter of all time. But the next 29 hundred will be a tough road for him because he took about 900 days to get from 70th to 71st ton.” Akhtar concluded.
Speaking of Virat Kohli’s form, he scored 276 runs in five innings at an average of 92. It included two 50s against Hong Kong and Pakistan respectively. Apart from these, he scored his maiden T20I ton also. Now, hopefully, Virat will be in action again during the home series against Australia and South Africa before the all-important 20-20 World Cup in Australia.
