Australia recently beat India in the final match of the ODI World Cup 2023 by 6 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19 November. Australia won their sixth ODI World Cup title after their previous victory in 2015 in their home. Under unfortunate circumstances, an adult committed suicide in India after the team’s loss.

As per reports, a 23-year-old man committed suicide in West Bengal’s Bankura area on Sunday night at around 11:00 p.m. around the Cinema Hall near the Beliatore police station area. As per the relatives of the deceased, India’s defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 finals has been reported as the reason for the individual’s suicide.

The deceased has been recognised as Rahul Lohar, as the former used to work in a clothing store in West Bengal. Rahul’s brother-in-law Uttam Sur exclaimed that the former had committed suicide in his room after India’s embarrassing defeat against Australia

As of now, the West Bengal police have refused to comment on the following issue after Lohar’s body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem. The hospital authorities have reported an unnatural death and an enquiry related to the matter is currently surfacing.

India’s performance against Australia in ODI World Cup 2023 finals

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first and dismiss the Indian batting lineup for the score of 240 runs at the end of 50 overs. In a must-win match, Australia got a low target to chase and won the game in 43 overs.

Rohit Sharma on India losing the ODI World Cup 2023 finals to Australia, “The result has not gone our way. We were not good enough today. We tried everything but it wasn’t supposed to be. 20-30 runs more would have been good, KL and Kohli were stitching a good partnership and we were looking at 270-280 but we kept losing wickets.”

“When you have 240 on the board, you want to take wickets but credit to Head and Labuschagne who stitched together a big partnership and put us completely out of the game. We tried everything we could but I feel the wicket got slightly better to bat under lights”, added Sharma.
