India is currently busy playing the three-match ODI series against West Indies. After winning the series opener on 22 July by just three runs, India came up victorious in another nail-biting finish in the second ODI. This win sealed another ODI series under their Head coach, Rahul Dravid after bagging the ODI series against England on their home soil.

Successfully, India chased down the target of 312 runs with two balls to spare in their innings. However, after the thrilling finish in the match, Shreyas Iyer opened up on the dressing room scenes during such a mammoth run chase. He said that Rahul Dravid was getting very tensed and was continuously passing on messages during India’s innings.

“We were all sitting together, and Rahul Dravid sir was getting very tensed” – Shreyas Iyer

Speaking after the match, Iyer said that Dravid was in full tension during the run chase. He said: “It was fun, to be honest. We were all sitting together, and Rahul (Dravid) sir was getting very tense; he was consistently passing on the message,” Shreyas also lauded the outstanding match-winning knock of Axar Patel in the match.

He added: “I think a lot of players showed really good emotions out there and were very calm and composed in the pressure situation. And since we have played so many matches lately, I think we have already seen all these emotions. It was just another game for us. I think we did pretty well, especially Axar, the way he finished off today. It was an outstanding knock,”

Speaking about the match, Shreyas Iyer also scored a useful 71-ball 63 as he stitched a solid partnership with Sanju Samson. “Sanju came in and obviously showed a lot of intent. I was already batting and had faced around 20 balls and was batting on 15. I knew what I was going to do, and Sanju at the same time faced a few balls. Then he went after the spinners. He hit them for two sixes, and suddenly, the momentum shifted towards us. From there onwards, we built on the partnership and carried forward the momentum,” Iyer concluded.
