‘Shukriya ab kal kya karu main’ – Fans show their anger after Pakistan lose to Australia by 79 runs in MCG
Pat Cummins picked his second fifer of the game to help his side claim the MCG test by 79 runs. Chasing 316 to win the second Test match Pakistan were all out for 237 late on day four at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
It was a disappointing result for Shan Masood and his side as they put up a brave fight during the game. At one point on day four, it looked as if the visitors would do the unthinkable and win the game.
The focus now shifts to the Sydney Cricket Ground for the final game. David Warner is set to play his final game in the Test format. The 37-year-old had earlier decided to call time on his Test career in front of his family and friends.
Pat Cummins and Australia swat aside Pakistani challenge –
Chasing 316 to win, Mitchell Starc dismissed Abdullah Shafique for just four runs. Shan Masood yet again came out with aggressive intent and scored another half-century. Pat Cummins though struck crucial blows removing Imam Ul Haq and Shan Masood.
After he failed in the first innings, Babar Azam got off to a good start and scored 41 runs but he was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Saud Shakeel and Mohammed Rizwan tried to fight back as the two batters kept the score ticking. The two batters with Rizwan in particular hit boundaries to keep the pressure on Australia.
Mitchell Starc then came into the attack to dismiss Saud Shakeel for 24, while Cummins got the wicket of Rizwan for 35. Agha Salman fought a lone battle yet again when he tried to steer the team home with the tail.
Aamer Jamal offered a simple return catch to Pat Cummins and Starc followed it up with the scalp of Salman. Marnus Labuschagne held onto a neat catch off Cummins to dismiss Afridi for a duck. This was the second fifer of the game for the Australian skipper. The end came when Starc bowled a bounce to dismiss Mir Hamza at the tail end of the day in MCG.
Earlier in the day Australia was bowled out for 262 with Alex Carey scoring 53 runs. Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza picked four wickets each while Aamer Jamal picked two. The Player of the Match award went to Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

What do you think was the reason losing the match?#AUSvPAK

Pakistan were having 5 wickets in hand with only 101 runs to chase and they threw it away for 22 runs. Aussies won this test my 79 runs. Brilliant played by Skip Pat Cummins. #AUSvPAK

Pakistan losing a golden opportunity to win
All 4 innings have been a batting let down which is actually full strength.
The bowling must be credited, in particular Aamir Jamal and Mir Hamza.#PAKvAUS #AUSvPAK— Urooj Mumtaz Khan (@uroojmumtazkhan) December 29, 2023
