Star KKR all-rounder builds hostel for underprivileged cricketers in Aligarh
One of the biggest rags-to-riches tales in the Indian Premier League is Rinku Singh, the star batter for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Before Rinku was chosen by KKR for the T20 league, his father transported LPG cylinders, while one of his brothers worked as an auto driver, and the other swept floors at a coaching centre to support the family.
The UP batter now wants to support those who share his aspirations in doing so. According to reports, the 25-year-old is investing 50 Lakhs in the construction of a dorm for struggling cricketers.
“He always wanted to build a hostel for young players, who do not have financial resources to pursue their dreams. As he is financially sound now, he has decided to make it a reality. Almost 90 per cent of the work is done. It will get ready by next month. Rinku will inaugurate it once he is back from the IPL. Hopefully, this facility will make life easier for these youngsters,” Rinku childhood coach, Masooduz-Zafar Amini was quoted as saying on The New Indian Express.

According to the report, the hostel has 14 rooms with private bathrooms that can each hold four trainees. It will offer basic accommodations for a low cost to aspiring cricketers. The facility’s canteen will also supply food to trainees.
In the final over of an IPL innings, the UP-born cricketer recently chased down the most runs (29) ever. In the current IPL season, he had just hit five sixes off of the same number of balls against the reigning champions Gujarat Titans (GT). The bowler who conceded the runs was Yash Dayal.
The left-hander was first selected by Punjab Kings in 2017 for a price of 10 lakhs, but he didn’t make his IPL debut until he joined KKR, who acquired him for 80 lakhs the following year. The IPL 2022 season saw Rinku finally pay off when he accumulated 174 runs at a strike rate of 148.72 in seven games. The southpaw’s strike rate this year is 162.62.
