Imran Tahir said he wishes to play in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Tahir is currently playing with Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League and was also recently active in the Legends League Cricket in Oman.

Tahir was ignored for the previous edition of the tournament in 2021 as South Africa opted for Tabraiz Shamsi as their primary spinner. Tahir last played an international game in 2019 and has some great numbers to his support – he has 68 wickets in a total of 38 matches at an average of just over 15.

In an interview with Geo News, he said, “I am still available for selection in T20Is. I believe I am fit enough to play in the T20 World Cup. I hope that selectors will consider my performances around the world. If they do, I am sure they’ll find me a deserving candidate.”

Thanking South Africa for the chances at the top level, he said, “It is a strange feeling that I am an overseas player for Pakistan where I was born and even played my initial cricket, but I am also thankful to South Africa that they gave me a chance to reach my dreams and prove myself in international cricket.”

In the season opener against Karachi Kings, the leg-spinner got three wickets and guided his team to victory. Speaking about their start to this season he said, Multan Sultans are onto a good start and credited the team’s hard work for the result and hoped to continue the winning streak.

“When you work hard as a team and give your best, you surely get success,” he concluded.

Imran Tahir’s position in the international team still remains to be decided.
