Stuart Broad questions DRS during third IND vs ENG Test, Graeme Swann recalls Trent Bridge incident
During the end of Day Two of the ongoing Rajkot Test between India and England, Ollie Pope was given out LBW. Against Mohammed Siraj, the England batter was not out on the field. However, in the ball tracking, the ball was hitting the stumps. In real-time, the ball did look like either going over the stumps or clipping the leg stump.

Reacting to this, former England pacer and the second England bowler to take 600 Test wickets, Stuart Broad questioned the DRS. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Looks high to me for 3 reds!”. In reply, his former teammate and part of the commentary team for the ongoing series, Graeme Swann reminded Broad about the Trent Bridge incident. For the unversed, the T20 World Cup 2010 winner, Broad refused to leave the crease despite edging the ball to slips.
This created a furor among the Aussie fans during the Ashes 2013 and ahead of the return Ashes three months later, the Aussie fans did make his life difficult during the series. He still gets a lot of stick for the same incident despite it happening more than 10 years back. Meanwhile, in the game, the Three Lions, after having a dream start (207/2 in 35 overs in reply to India’s 445) are in a spot of bother. After losing three wickets in the first session of the ongoing Day Three, the team lost two more at the start of the afternoon session.
At the time of writing, the visitors have 299/7 on the board, trailing by 146 runs. India would like to wrap up quickly and take a big first innings lead.
