 Suryakumar Yadav drops intriguing injury update ahead of Afghanistan series

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the best T20I batters of this generation. He was captaining the side in the T20I series against South Africa which India the series ended in a draw 1-1 and during the game he twisted his ankle the No.1 T20I batter will miss the Afghanistan series as he is yet to recover from the injury.

There is no official confirmation on his status for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which will start on January 11.  The batter has been in sensational form in the shortest format of the game and was the Player of the Series against the Proteas scoring 156 runs in two matches. In 18 T20Is this year, SKY has scored 733 runs at an average of 48.86 and a strike rate of 155.95, with the best score of 112 and has two centuries to his name in the current year.

Ahead of the Afghanistan series, the batter has dropped an update about his injury. As he posted a video on his social media account. Injuries have been a concern for the Men in Blue side with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad also missing the t2o match test against the Proteas starting from Tuesday.

Suryakumar’s post stated, “On a slightly serious note, injuries are never fun, but I’ll take it in my stride and promise to be back, fully fit, in no time! Till then, hope you all are enjoying the holiday season and finding little joys, everyday.” Meanwhile Hadrik Pandya as per the recent developments Hardik Pandya who was also suffering from an injury has recovered and will lead the side in the Afghanistan series and the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians (MI).

A source said, “He has completely recovered from his ankle injury. He has been training every day. Hardik is fit and fine. In fact, he has been working out daily. All the talk about him going to miss the IPL is just rumour. There are still four months left for IPL 2024, so anything at this moment, is just speculation.”
