Rohit Sharma reached the milestone of 6000 runs on Tuesday, April 18 in the Indian Premier League. The MI captain reached the landmark batter during Mumbai Indians’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rohit passed the 6000-run threshold, joining an elite group of batters. Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), David Warner of Delhi Capitals (DC), and Shikhar Dhawan of Punjab Kings (PBKS) are the other players in the exclusive group.

Ahead of the start of the game, Rohit Sharma required 14 runs to reach the milestone. In his 227th IPL inning, he also broke the record for the slowest batter to accomplish the milestone. Following a single to begin his innings, the right-handed batter blasted Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a four through the covers. In the area between the fine leg and square leg, Rohit swept Washington Sundar for a four.

With a pull shot for a four-off Sundar, the experienced player reach the 6000-run mark in IPL. In the very next ball of MI’s innings, Rohit produced an aggressive cut shot to earn a hat-trick of fours. Before being removed from the game by T Natarajan in the fifth over, Rohit had scored 28 runs off of 18 balls.

Over the past three seasons of the IPL, Rohit has had trouble getting runs. He, recently, hit his first 50 in the IPL in over two years. After 24 games, Rohit scored a fifty against the Capitals, becoming the first player to do so in the IPL. Rohit is still an integral part of the Mumbai-based team. Rohit made MI the most successful club in the history of the T20 league by leading them to five IPL championships between 2013 and 2020.
