Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan saw a huge bidding war for himself. Kishan played for Mumbai last year and was released ahead of the player auction. His base price was INR 2 crores in the set of wicketkeepers. Punjab and Mumbai engaged in the bidding war initially. At 8 crore, Gujarat decided to jump in the bidding war.

At this point, the bidding started picking pace as Gujarat and Mumbai were desperate to get the services of the explosive left-hander. The bidding went close to 13 crores when Gujarat pulled out. Hyderabad then jumped into the bidding and fought with the five-time winners. Also, he went past Shreyas Iyer’s 12.25 crores, who was bought by Kolkata in round one of the auction.

After a while, the former India U19 skipper went past Yuvraj Singh (14 crores in 2014), and Ben Stokes (14.50 crores in 2017). In the end, the Reliance Limited-owned team managed to bag Kishan for a whopping amount of 15.25 crores.

Kishan has played for Men In Blue and Gold since 2018 and has amassed 1133 runs in 45 games for the team, striking at above 140. He was also part of the title winning teams in seasons 2019 and 2020. The franchise was elated after acquiring him and fans of the team seemed happy with his inclusion.
