‘The historic spot will be especially designed and named’ – MCA President Amol Kale speaks on special seat auction
The Maharashtra Cricket Association has decided to make a historic move for the first time in the history of cricket stadiums, to auction the seats. These are not just any ordinary or regular seat in the stadium, but are the special ones at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai wherein the former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed the winning six in the ODI World Cup, 2011.
Notably, the ODI World Cup, 2011 was the first that India hosted and won after 28 years after the side’s first one in 1983 because of Ms Dhoni’s six towards the long on. On the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) official website, the association has mentioned a section for the special ‘Request for proposal for buyout of Hospitality Package for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches at Wankhede Stadium.’ The MCA has labelled the exclusive section as “Cricket World Cup 2011 Victory Memorial Stand (2 seats) to be auctioned.”
