Arshdeep Singh debuted in international cricket in 2022 and made his mark straightaway. The left-arm medium pacer had initially impressed everyone with his death bowling. With time, Arshdeep grew stronger and developed swing bowling, which impressed the Indian selectors. It gave the youngster his maiden call-up to the Indian side.

Till the 2022 T20 World Cup, Arshdeep was in terrific form in the shorter format. In the recent few days, especially during the second half of the 2023 Indian Premier League, Singh’s death bowling, however, went down. The left-arm pacer is yet to find his Yorker right. Whenever he has attempted the Yorkers, he has failed to execute them well. As a result, the Punjab pacer has opted for the slower ones of late.

I read the conditions quickly’ – Arshdeep Singh

Speaking about his skills, Arshdeep said that he analyzed the pitch and bowled hard lengths in Florida. After the fourth T20I, Arshdeep talked with his fellow teammate Gill on the BCCI talk show. In the conversation, Arshdeep revealed his tactics in the match. “I read the conditions quickly and realized that it is pretty flat. I bowled slower ones on my hard length,” said Arshdeep.

The left-arm bowler was happy to play the match in front of his family. The youngster revealed that the presence of his family in the match added a bit of pressure on him to perform well. “It was pre-planned; Father is in Canada to play some tournament. So, he tagged along with my brother and came to the USA to watch me play”, Arshdeep said. The Indian pacer revealed that there was huge support for him.

“There was a bit of extra support. There was pressure also to perform well in front of them,” he added. The 24-year-old has been good in the Powerplay overs lately. In the ongoing series against the West Indies, Singh’s figures in each match are 2/31, 1/34, 0/33, and 3/38 respectively. The Guna-born bowler conceded runs at the back end but picked wickets against the West Indies.
