The Guyana Amazon Warriors beat the Trinbago Knight Riders by nine wickets to clinch their first ever CPL title. It was yet again star cricketer Shai Hope who stood out for his side and smashed quick runs that allowed his team to register victory over Pollard side with 36 balls to spare. Notably, the right-handed batter smashes a fast 32 runs to chase down the target and forged a great stand with great opener Ayub to clinch the trophy of CPL 2023.

Earlier, the Trinbago Knight Riders were only able to post 94 runs during the play owing to superb bowling spells from Imran Tahir’s side that allowed them to bundle them out early. Notably, great bowler Dwaine Pretorius had scalped four wickets to restrict the Pollard side to a narrow score.

Meanwhile, West Indies star cricketer Shai Hope, who received Player of the Tournament, expressed his happiness after their maiden title win. Moreover, the wicketkeeper batsman felt proud of smashing a century in CPL 2023, as it was his first hundred in the shortest format of the game. In addition, the top-order batter opens up about the tactic he used to score a plethora of runs in the tournament.

This franchise backed me to do what I want: Shai Hope

The 29-year-old cricketer says that the franchise has backed him a lot, which allows him to play freely. Moreover, the Barbados-born cricketer dedicated his award to the amazing and electrifying crowd that supported him and his side throughout the whole tournament.

“Runs that contribute to win is fantastic. Probably the hundred is a special because I got that for the first time in this format. Just tried to score as many runs as possible to win games for the team. This franchise backed me to do what I want. It is like a family and I happy to be in this team. You (crowd) have been amazing, electrifying. this one is for you guys,” Shai Hope said during post match presentation.
