This Indian batter is most likely to replace injured KL Rahul for the England Test match
India is scheduled to play the fifth and rescheduled Test match against England from 1 July 2022. Last time, due to the sudden outbreak of the Covid, this match got canceled. Now, India will look to avoid defeat in this match to win the series under Rohit Sharma’s leadership.
However, India faced a major blow a few days back as KL Rahul is set to get missed from this lone Test due to his groin injury. This injury also gave a setback to him before this ongoing South Africa series as he missed the captaincy opportunity. That’s why captaincy duties got handed over to Rishabh Pant in his absence. Speaking to Cricbuzz, secretary of the Indian Cricket Board Jay Shah said that Rahul will be sent to Germany for his further check-up.
Mayank Agarwal is set to replace Rahul in the Test squad – as per reports
Jay Shah said: “That is correct, the board is working on his fitness and he will be going to Germany soon,” Speaking to Indiesport, an Indian Board official also said that his rehab process had been very slow. “It’s a slow process. His recovery has been slow and that’s not a good sign” he added on Wednesday (15 June 2022).
Now, as per reports to IndieSport, Mayank Agarwal is most likely to be added to the Indian Squad for this upcoming Test match against England. Speaking of his career so far, Mayank played 21 matches where he scored 1488 runs at an average of 41.33.
