Top 3 Players Likely to Replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test Captain
2. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane was India’s vice-captain for a long period before being released last year. After a couple of years of dismal batting averages, management decided to drop him. However, the veteran returned for the WTC Final and performed admirably to reclaim his position in the team.
Though he is not a long-term substitute for Rohit Sharma, his experience and captaincy record make him a strong contender to take over as captain. If Rohit gives up the Test format, Rahane may at least remain India’s captain till the conclusion of the next WTC cycle.
