Top 3 Players Likely to Replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test Captain
1. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is another possible choice for India’s upcoming Test captain. He has already become a vital member of the Test team despite being only 25 years old. Test centuries in England, South Africa, and Australia have propelled him to the top of the Test wicketkeeper-batsman rankings. With an eye on the future, he may be the best candidate to take over as India’s Test captain from Rohit.
Pant is no stranger to captaincy and is already a member of Team India’s leadership group. After KL Rahul was ruled out with an injury, he was selected as India’s captain for the T20I series against South Africa in June 2022. He also took over as Delhi’s captain for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017, replacing Gautam Gambhir at the age of 20. After Iyer sustained an injury, the Delhi Capitals chose to replace him as captain in 2021. In 2022, Delhi elected to keep Pant as captain while releasing Iyer. Pant is already a well-known Test team player, and he may be the ideal replacement for Rohit.
