The pace attack for India’s Test series against the West Indies appears to be quite weak. Jasprit Bumrah is still out injured, while Mohammad Shami appears to have been rested. Umesh Yadav looks to have also been dropped. In terms of speed, Rohit Sharma-led side may rely on Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat, Mukesh Kumar, and Navdeep Saini.

While it’s difficult to argue against the first four names on the list, Arshdeep has also represented Kent in the County Championship and is certainly improving his bowling in the longer format. While he would have been a minor risk, he would have brought a fresh dimension to a weak-looking seam attack against the West Indies. The Punjab-based pacer has also a brilliant first-class average of 25.13 in the eight matches he has played.
