Top Indian Cricket Board Member Dismisses Difference Between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
India is currently busy playing the five-match T20I series against West Indies. After taking a break from the ODI series, Rohit Sharma made a comeback in this series as a leader. However, Virat Kohli is still on break from international cricket after the England tour. But, the fanbase of both these players is quite high around the globe.
Even, sometimes fans get into a heated debate regarding who is the better batter among them. But, regarding the same debate, the Indian Cricket Board treasurer Arun Dhumal came up with his opinion. He dismissed any difference between these players regarding any matter of the game.
“We never think about it. It is the passion of fans that drives them and this debate between Virat and Rohit.” – Arun Dhumal of the Indian Cricket Board
Speaking with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Dhumal said that fans have generated all these debate things. It only helps them to get driven in the game. He said: “We never think about it. It is the passion of fans that drives them and this debate. When you are attached to an emotion, then you tend to say all that. And social media is a platform where you can talk about anything. They speak their heart out because there are no restrictions. That is why people think it persists,”
Dhumal also added that it already happened with past players also. “We saw the same with Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, or later between Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. On social media, matters amplify to an extent that people believe all this is true,” Dhumal concluded.
Speaking of both these players, Rohit Sharma got an injury in the third T20I against West Indies. However, he is looking to play in the rest of the two matches of the series on 6 and 7 August respectively. On the other hand, Virat Kohli will also miss the upcoming three ODIs in Zimbabwe. As per reports, selectors wanted him to send. But, Kohli demanded rest and confirmed his availability from the Asia Cup onwards. Hence, he will be in action from the Asia Cup for India, later in August 2022.
