Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra doesn’t seem to be happy with the Kolkata Knight Riders Suyash Sharma as he deliberately tried to bowl a wide ball during the IPL 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals to prevent Yashasvi Jaiswal from scoring a century. The RR batter played a splendid knock of 98 runs off 47 balls as they registered a dominating victory over KKR by 9 wickets in match number 56 of the season.

During the last ball of the 13th over of the innings while chasing 150 runs, RR still needed three runs to win with the skipper Sanju Samson. Jaiswal was at the non-strike on 94 runs and needed a six to complete his century. After that, Suyash fired down leg to Samson, but the RR skipper moves to the leg side and defended the ball so that Jaiswal could complete his hundred in the next over. However, Jaiswal couldn’t reach the triple figures but he finished the game with a boundary as RR chased the winning total with 41 balls to spare.

After the match, Aakash Chopra took on his Twitter to take a dig at Suyash for preventing Jaiswal from scoring a century. He wrote, “Trying to bowl a wide to prevent Yashasvi from getting to his 100….poor taste IMHO.”

RR jumped to third spot with their sixth win of the season

Talking about the match, RR jumped to the third position after a one-sided victory over KKR at Eden Gardens. Batting first, KKR posted a total of 149 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, powered by the half-century by Venkatesh Iyer. Meanwhile, RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal scalped 4 wickets by conceding 25 runs in his four overs. With this, the 32-year-old became the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, with 187 wickets to his name.

Chasing the winning total, Jaiswal gave a flying start to RR by smashing 26 runs of the very first over of the innings by the KKR skipper Nitish Rana. After that, Jaiswal and Samson put up an unbeaten partnership of 121 runs for the second wicket as RR registered their sixth win of the season.
