Twitter reactions: David Warner goes back to Delhi after eight years
Australia opening batter David Warner has been bought by Delhi for 6.25 crores INR. Teams such as Chennai and Mumbai were also bidding to acquire the services of Warner. The first bid came from Delhi. They were joined by Chennai but backed out when the prices were going beyond their preferred budget. Mumbai then jumped in but backed out just after a couple of Bids.
The explosive batter last played for the franchise in 2013. Next year, he was bought by Hyderabad and became an integral part of the team for seven years. He also led the team from 2015 to the middle of the last season before being sacked from the role. The left-hander led the team to their maiden trophy in 2016 as they beat Bangalore in the final.
He won three Orange Caps awards while playing for the Men in Orange in 2015, 2017, and 2019. He was dropped from the team twice during the two different phases of the last tournament. During his association with the team, the 2015 ODI World Cup-winner amassed 4014 runs for the team.
Notably, Warner won’ be available for this initial part of the tournament as he will be busy with the national team for their all-format tour of Pakistan, which will end on April 5.
I think @DelhiCapitals got a good bargain with David Warner.
