On November 28, Portugal and 1930 FIFA World Cup winners, Uruguay locked horns at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. The game was won by the European side as they dominated most parts of the game with close to 70 percent ball possession. Meanwhile, during the game, one of the goals was awarded to Bruno Fernandez, who scored both goals. Even though it was a moment to celebrate, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that it was his goal.

In the replays, it is shown that the ball was pretty close to the 37-year-old’s head. Meanwhile, the VAR referees awarded the goal to Fernandez. After this, Ronaldo was seen having a wry smile suggesting he couldn’t believe his luck. Even though the world is divided on whether it was Ronaldo’s goal or not, two England cricketers decided to ‘analyze’ the decision in cricketing terms.

It all started with Englan all-rounder Chris Woakes wrote on Twitter “What’s snicko saying on that ‘Ronaldo’s’ goal? Flat line I reckon.” To which, his teammate Saqib Mehmood replied by saying “There is clearly no daylight between head and ball, you are on screen can stck with your decision.”

Both English cricketers are in Pakistan for the three-match Test series, starting on December 1. On the other hand, Bruno Fernandez’s efforts ensured that the Red brigade reach the Round of 16 stages. The likes of defending champion, France, and five-time winners, Brazil have already done it. Also, Portugal has once again qualified for the knockouts after winning back-to-back games.

With this win, the 2016 Euro Cup champions took their revenge against the 1930 FIFA winners. Apparently, four years back, the inaugural champions had knocked out Portugal. Meanwhile, before playing the knockouts, Portugal will play South Korea in their last group game.
