The Premier League and FA Cup champions, Manchester City will lock horns with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul on Sunday, May 11. The Blues will try their best to win the Champions League in order to complete the treble this year after clinching the Premier League and FA Cup earlier this month. If they win the Champions League final, they will become the second team after their rivals, Manchester United to complete the treble.

The Champions League has avoided City since their takeover in 2008, despite their dominance at home. Coach Pep Guardiola, a Champions League finals veteran, who has won two trophies with Barcelona FC, would be looking going to clinch his third one. Inter Milan, who came third in Serie A, will be a challenge for City.

Manchester City like to play with the same XI as the FA Cup final

Inter has won 11 of their previous 12 games, including the Coppa Italia final, thus their momentum cannot be overlooked. However, they will have a tough fight on their hands with the Citizens. Inter’s excellent defence and quick counterattacks contrast with City’s possession-based strategy, making for an exciting tactical battle between the two clubs. Although both sides are skilled, City’s propensity for controlling the ball and Inter’s capacity for breakdown makes for an engaging tactical battle.

Manchester City is anticipated to pitch their best team for the big game, and they’ll probably stick with the same lineup that won the FA Cup final last week. Kyle Walker’s slight back injury is the only reason for concern, although it is unlikely to keep him from participating in such an important game. While Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Milan Kriniar are expected to be prepared to play, with Kriniar likely to start.

Joaquin Correa, however, might not participate because of a calf injury. Notably, the teams will face off in the Champions League final on Saturday for the first time. They have never clashed in a competitive game. Edin Deko, who is anticipated to start up front for Inter, scored one of City’s three goals in a 3-0 victory during their previous preseason encounter in 2011.
