‘Umpires ka ek hi to kaam tha wo bhi nhi hua’ – Fans react as New Zealand spinner Eden Carson bowls 11 overs in Women’s ODI game against Sri Lanka
In a thrilling encounter during the second ODI of the tour, the New Zealand Women’s team emerged victorious, defeating the Sri Lanka Women’s team by a commanding 111 runs. With this victory, NZW sealed the three-match series by a 2-0 margin. However, it was an incident that occurred during the game that sparked a frenzy among fans on social media platforms.
In a rather bizarre turn of events, the Kiwi off-spinner, Eden Carson, found herself bowling a remarkable spell of 11 overs, one more than the designated quota. Surprisingly, neither the on-field umpires nor the match officials noticed the error, allowing Carson to continue her spell. During her extended spell, she exhibited her skill and finesse, claiming two crucial wickets for a mere 41 runs. Her victims included the opener, Harshitha Madavi, and the dangerous Kavisha Dilhari.
Earlier in the match, NZW’s decision to bat first seemed questionable as they encountered early setbacks, losing both their openers within the first 10 overs. At that point, the team appeared to be losing its grip on the game. However, the resilient Meile Kerr and the formidable Sophie Devine turned the tables with their brilliant centuries. Kerr showcased her prowess, scoring 108 runs off just 106 deliveries, including seven boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, Devine’s scintillating knock saw her accumulate an impressive 137 runs off 121 balls, featuring 17 boundaries and two sixes.
Sri Lankan batters failed to hold their nerves against the Kiwi bowling attack
In response to the mammoth target set by NZW, the Sri Lanka Women’s team endured a shaky start, losing four wickets for a mere 35 runs in just 7.2 overs. None of the home team’s batters seemed comfortable against the skilful Kiwi bowlers, apart from the all-rounder, Kavisha Dilhari, who valiantly fought back. Dilhari showcased her determination, scoring a commendable 84 runs off 98 balls, including nine boundaries. However, Carson, in her prolonged spell, managed to dismiss Dilhari in the 43rd over, extinguishing any hope of a comeback for SLW.
With this resounding victory, the Kiwis secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, with one match left to be played. Lea Tahuhu was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, clinching an impressive four wickets, while Eden Carson made a valuable contribution, claiming two wickets to further dismantle the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

मैं तो इसे आपकी गलती ही मानूंगा मुफा भाई आप तो रोक सकते थे दस ओवर पर, अंपायरों और मैच ऑफिशियल को इतनी जानकारी नहीं है जितनी आपको है !

Apparently no one remembered that she completed her quota and let her bowl one more.

When players get fine for even simplest of things why not the umpires now as it's blunder with all the technology we have
