Ousted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson, Ramiz Raja‘s ranting doesn’t look like stopping in near future. After his sacking, the expressed his concerns over political influences on the board. Notably, his appointment was politically influenced. Apparently, in the PCB, every chairperson has historically been appointed the Prime Minister of the nation. The PM of Pakistan also happens to be the patron-in-chief of the board.

The same happened with Raja as he was appointed his former PM, Imran Khan. Raja was appointed in September last year. 15 months into the job, the 1992 World Cup winner has been sacked after England’s clean sweeping win against Pakistan. The former skipper has been replaced by Najam Sethi, who has worked in the same post before. Meanwhile, after his sacking, Ramiz said that the people who fired him couldn’t bear the fact that ‘Pakistan did well against India’ on many fronts.

“We gave outstanding performances in white-ball cricket. We played the Asia Cup final, India didn’t play that. India, a billion-dollar industry, was left behind. Tod phod hui, unhone apna chief selector, selection committee fire kar di, captain badal diye kyunki unko hazam nahi hua ki Pakistan unse kaise aage nikal gaya. (They fired their chief selector, selection committee, changed the captain because they couldn’t digest how Pakistan went ahead of them),” Ramiz told Suno TV.

Ramiz Raja compares his sacking with France’s football

The Faisalabad-born player further compared his fate with France’s football association. He was referring to Pakistan playing the final of Asia and the 20-20 World Cups under his chairpersonship. Raja said that his sacking was the same as the France Football Association’s top management getting fired despite the team playing in the final of the FIFA World Cup.

“This is just like France firing their entire board even after they played in the FIFA World Cup final.”

“I tried my level best to keep this team united. I empowered Babar Azam. Cricket is one of those rare sports where captaincy is relevant. If your captain is powerful, results will come, and we have given results,” said Ramiz.
