Vice-Captain for Gujarat franchise revealed

The Gujarat franchise is a new introduction to the Indian T20 League 2022. They will begin their journey with a match against another new franchise of the tournament, Lucknow. The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Wankhede stadium.

Just ahead of their debut match in the Indian T20 League, the Gujarat franchise has named their vice-captain for the season. In a post on their official Instagram page, the franchise has announced the Afghanistan star Rashid Khan as their vice-captain for the season. Notably, Hardik Pandya has already been named as the team’s captain earlier. The post naming Rashid Khan as the vice-captain contained a picture of Rashid Khan and skipper Hardik Pandya. The post was captioned – “Verified In yet another #SeasonOfFirsts, Rashid bhai becomes our Vice Captain!”

Rashid Khan was one of the three players drafted by Gujarat ahead of the mega auction of the Indian T20 League 2022. Rashid Khan’s services were secured for a price of INR 15 Cr. Previously Rashid Khan has featured for the Hyderabad franchise. He has played 76 matches in the Indian T20 League picking up 93 wickets in them. He bowls at an amazing economy rate of 6.33 and an average of just 20.56. He has also captained his national squad for a short period.

Rashid Khan will be an important part of Gujarat’s campaign in the debut season. He will have the responsibility of being the strike bowler of the team. Now, after the announcement on the franchise’s part, his role becomes even more important. It will be exciting to see how he manages the responsibilities.
