Bangalore faced Hyderabad in the 36th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Brabourne pitch has gifted the fans with some high-scoring encounters in the tournament so far. But the story of this match was completely different as Hyderabad just blew away Bangalore in the competition.

Hyderabad won the toss and Williamson decided to field first. It was a dream start for Hyderabad as they got Bangalore down to eight for three runs in only the second over the innings. The brilliant second over from  Marco Jansen set the tone for the day. He dismissed Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Anuj Rawat in the over and Bangalore was derailed. They never recovered from the early shock and none of the batters were able to show any sort of resilience. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Bangalore was able to put up  a total of just 68 runs on the board. They were not able to bat their full quota of 20 overs and were bundled out in just the 16th over. Glenn Maxwell  (12 off11) and Suyash Prabhudessai (15 off 20) were the only batters who scored in double figures. Marco Jansen and T Natarajan both picked up three wickets each, while J Suchith had two to his name.

Virat Kohli’s bad patch still continues as he has now bagged two consecutive golden ducks in the tournament.

Hyderabad was under no pressure whatsoever while chasing the very small target. The Bangalore bowlers looked resigned to the fact that the total of 68 runs is not defendable. Abhishek Sharma blazed off the blocks and made the target even easier for Hyderabad. The left-hander played elegant shots all round the ground while Kane Williamson kept rotating the strike. The opening pair brought up the team 50 in just 5.5 overs  and were within striking distance from the win. It looked like Sharma has a flight to catch after the match and wanted to finish of the match as soon as possible. He scored a quickfire 47 off 28 deliveries before being dismissed by Harshal Patel. But his dismissal was of little significance to the result of the match was Hyderabad was just 5 runs away from the target with 76 balls still remaining. Rahul Tripathi finished the match with a six of the final delivery in the eighth over. Hyderabad won their fifth consecutive match by 9 wickets with72 balls remaining in the match. Bangalore face their third defeat in the tournament, but they will look to bounce back from this crushing defeat soon and return to winning ways.
