Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik isn’t part of his national side for the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Notably, since the team’s middle-order issue was exposed during the Men’s Asia Cup 2022 last month, the former skipper was expected to get a recall. However, the selection committee, led by Mohammad Wasim decided to stick with the same set of players. A lot of Malik fans were dejected by the call.

Meanwhile, during a show, the 1992 World Cup winner, Akram was asked about whether Malik has retired from the game. The question fumed the former and he replied by saying the fans are always in a hurry. The former left-arm pacer added that if Malik wants to retire, he would announce the same to the fans.

Ek minute. Ek toh tum logon ko har cheez ki badi jaldi hai. Agar usko retirement dena hai beta, toh vo retirement de dega. And if he wants to play cricket, he is one of the fittest cricketers in the world. (You guys are in a hurry for everything. If he has to retire, he will retire. Otherwise, even now, he is one of the fittest players in the world),” Akram said on A News.

I am enjoying my cricket right now: Shoaib Malik

On the other hand, the two-time World Championship winner also replied to the same question. He said that he will announce his retirement to the fans. The right-hander added that he is currently enjoying his cricket.

Main jab retirement lunga, vo sabko pata chalega. I’m enjoying my cricket right now, abhi aisa koi plan nahi hai. (When I will retire, everyone will know. I’m enjoying my cricket right now, so there’s no plan for that at the moment),” Malik stated.

Notably, the Sialkot player made his international debut in 1999. At that time, Akram was leading the Green Brigade. He is the only player from the 90s who is still playing the game at any level.
