For the first time since 1986, the Argentina team has finally won the FIFA World Cup. With this win, their skipper Lionel Messi has got a perfect farewell from his World Cup career. Ahead of the tournament, he announced that this would be his last World Cup. Meanwhile, after the win, the Argentina fans haven’t been able to keep calm. Apparently, they were supposed to give a Hero welcome to the team.

However, the roadshow on a bus was canceled as much more people had gathered on the streets than expected. The authorities had to cancel the event to prioritize the safety of the citizens. Because of this, the players had to greet the fans from a helicopter on which some of the players traveled around the flyover of Argentina’s capital. Notably, the roadshow was also canceled because some fans tried to get on the bus and got hurt.

Meanwhile, Claudio Tapia, the president of the Argentine Football Association released a statement on Twitter. The statement reads that they were not allowed to meet the fans by the security forces. He tendered an apology to the fans.

“We were not allowed to arrive to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk, the same security forces that were escorting us did not allow us to move forward. A thousand apologies on behalf of all the champion players,” Tapia wrote.

On the other hand, Presidential spokeswoman Gabriela Cerruti added “The World Champions are flying over the parade route in helicopters because it was impossible to continue on the ground.” On December 20, a national holiday was observed in Argentina as part of the nation’s celebration of the World Cup win.
