The final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia is all set to go underway in just under a day. Pakistan and England, the two finalists, are all set to take centre stage for the last time this edition. Both teams will be vying for their second 20-20 World Cup title, with Pakistan winning in 2009 and England the following year.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam took the press conference ahead of the blockbuster final at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground to answer questions about the team’s preparation for the summit clash. However, one question left him completely uncomfortable and required the Pakistan media manager to intervene.

During the press conference, Babar was asked about the Indian T20 League and whether Pakistan players hope to play in the league in the future to improve their game. “Talk about the benefits of playing the IPL, is that something you feel would have helped you and your team and is that something you have any hope for in the future?” asked the journalist.

The question stunned Babar, who immediately turned to face the Pakistan media manager standing to his right. “We are taking questions on the World Cup final at the moment,” the manager responded immediately.

Since the 2009 season, Pakistan has not competed in the Indian T20 League. They only competed in the tournament’s inaugural edition before being barred from participating due to political tensions between the two countries.

Babar also discussed Pakistan’s miraculous turnaround in the last few days at the 20-20 World Cup.  “I’m more excited than nervous since we’ve performed well in our last three matches. It is no doubt that pressure exists but it can only be suppressed with confidence and belief in ourselves. And for good results it is impertinent that one must do so,” he said.

The championship game is scheduled for November 13th at 1:30 PM (IST). The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the match.
