The Big Bash League 2022-23 has been an exhilarating affair so far as fans got to see some marvellous cricket matches during the season. Match no 41 was no different as Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades locked horns with each other.  Stars won the toss and put Renegades in to bat first who scored 162/7 in the first innings. During the second innings of the match, the crowd was left stunned as a shot from Beau Webster hit the stadium’s roof.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 16th over bowled by Rogers, who bowled a full delivery as Webster tried to smack it over the boundary. However, the ball went straight up in the air and ended up hitting the roof of the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. The umpire immediately signalled it a six as Rogers looked in disbelief.

It was not the first time that the ball hit the roof during the match. Earlier in the innings, a similar incident happened on the last ball of the third over bowled by Will Sutherland. Sutherland bowled a good length delivery which Joe Clarke tried to pull on the on side. However, he failed to time the ball as it went high up in the air and hit the roof. The Stars were once again awarded six runs which otherwise would’ve been another catching opportunity.

Despite getting 12 extra runs due to the ball hitting the roof, Stars fell six runs short of their target.  Tom Rogers and Kane Richardson picked up two wickets each for Renegades.
