Watch: Cambodian players left frustrated after the Indian National anthem got played instead of theirs

India played against Cambodia in the Asia Cup qualifier match of the Asian Football Confederation on Wednesday (9 June 2022) at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. As per normal rituals, the National anthems of both the teams get played before the match as players get lined up for that. However, a shocking error happened yesterday which left Cambodian players totally frustrated.

After the announcement for playing National anthems, Cambodian players lined up for that. But, nothing got played for a few minutes. Meanwhile, after a few minutes, the Indian National anthem started to get played and that left Cambodian players very surprised.

Here is the video from Twitter:

Apart from it, another error happened when their flag, which was on display on the digital screen, cut to black midway through. These issues delayed all the proceedings and as per reports, it was finally played from a Cambodian official’s mobile phone after it was connected to a console. Cambodia coach Ryu Hirose also shared his disappointment after the match. He said: “We didn’t really get frustrated but we got a low key because of the delay and called them back,”.

India won the match 2-0 vs Cambodia

Speaking of the match, India kicked off the Qualifiers in style after defeating Cambodia with a margin of 2-0. Veteran Sunil Chhetri once again came up as the hero for the blue tigers as he scored both the goals. In the 14th minute of the match, a Cambodian defender tripped Liston Colaco and gave a penalty to the host. Sunil Chhetri did not make any mistake as he converted that from the spot. Another goal was at the 60th-minute mark when Chhetri found the net again.

After this result, India are currently at the top of the table in Group D with one win in one game. Hong Kong also won a game while the other two teams Cambodia and Afghanistan are still to open their account.

Team India is scheduled to face Afghanistan on 11 June for their second match of this tournament at the same stadium in Kolkata.
