An inspiring innings in debut by Sarfaraz Khan ended on a tragic note on day 1 in Rajkot against England. There is a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja and the dream debut of Mumbai batter comes to an end.
Even this run leaves India captain Rohit Sharma furious as he throws his cap off after watching the mix-up between both of the batters. India won the toss and chose to bat first in a third Test match against England. There are two debutants for this Test. Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. India had a bad start, losing three wickets at just 33 runs. Two of the centurions of the last Test match Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill out cheaply, while Rajat Patidar scored only 5 runs.

Rohit and Jadeja had a partnership of 204 runs
Rohit Sharma scored his 11th Test ton. Rohit and Jadeja put 204 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. After the dismissal of skipper Rohit Sharma, 26-year-old Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan came to the crease with so many expectations. He did not let down anyone. Sarfaraz had a slow start, he scored his first boundary off Rehan Ahmed. As the innings progressed the 26-year-old Mumbai batter started to take the attack to the opposition bowlers. He looked very comfortable at the crease.
He played some great sweeps against Joe Root. Then he started to target Tom Hartley, he hit a couple of fours to race into the 40s. He hit a six-over long-on from Hartley. He scored his fifty off 48 balls and became the joint fastest batter on debut to score a fifty. Sarfaraz hits 9 boundaries and a six.
The unfortunate incident happened when all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was batting on 99. He played a shot to mid-on for a single but said no immediately, Sarfaraz already reached half of the pitch. Mark Wood took the bowl and ran out of Sarfaraz. His brave knock of 62 comes to a heartbreaking end. India scored 326/5 at the end of Day 1. Ravindra Jadeja is still at the crease at unbeaten 110.
