Both teams are now playing a Test series and an ODI series will follow.

Meanwhile, during the ongoing Boxing Day Test between the two teams, Imam Ul Haq and Neil Wagner ‘bonded’ over cricket bats. After the fourth day’s play, both players exchanged bats. In the video, Haq explained which bat was used in which game. The video has been doing rounds on the internet.

Talking about the game, the home side won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they had a poor start as they lost four wickets for 110 runs. The likes of Sarfaraz Ahmed and Babar Azam stitched a partnership of 196 runs to rescue the team. Ahmed scored 87 while the latter scored 161. The duo’s innings and Salman Ali Agha’s maiden Test century helped the team to reach 438 all-out.

In reply, the 2021 World Test Championship winners got a great start as Devon Conway and Tom Latham stitched a partnership of 183 runs. The former missed his hundred while Lathan scored 113. On the other hand, former Test skipper, Kane Williamson, who was facing a century drought across formats, scored an unbeaten 200. With Ish Shodi (65), Williamson stitched a partnership of 159 runs for the seventh wicket.

Thanks to this, the team reached 612/9, declaring the innings with a lead of 174 runs. In reply, Pakistan has amassed 181/4 at the time of writing. The likes of Ahmed and Haq have stitched a partnership of 81 runs and counting. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan can save the game or if New Zealand wins the game.
