Watch: Indian fan’s bizarre request from Rishabh Pant ahead of India-South Africa clash
India wicketkeeper batter, Rishabh Pant is yet to play a game in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. In the two games played by the 2007 winners, Dinesh Karthik has been their preferred choice behind the stumps. Notably, Pant hasn’t been at his best in the T20I format since June this year. At that time, he was leading the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa.
Since then, his batting in the shortest format has been under criticism. In the limited Test and ODI games he played this year, he looked comfortable as he scored one century each in both formats in July. Meanwhile, Karthik has been doing well as the finisher in the T20Is for the Men In Blue. This is the reason, he has been preferred over Pant in the showpiece event.
Meanwhile, in the midst of the former champions winning two out of as many games, vice-captain and opening batter KL Rahul‘s form is a concern for the fans. So far, he has managed only 13 runs. Notably, the right-hander might have scored much more runs if he had decided to challenge the lbw call. Meanwhile, a fan has urged the Indian team to open with Rishabh instead of the Rahul in the upcoming game against the Proteas on October 30.

On the other hand, India batting coach Vikram Rathour has indicated that the team will stick with KL even after the twin failures.
“No, we’re not really thinking that. Two games, I don’t think that’s a good enough sample size anyways. He’s been batting really well and he’s batted really well in the practice games, also, so we’re not looking at any such thing at the moment,” said Vikram Rathour.
