Talking about the game, Japan created history as they beat three-time champions Germany at the Khalifa International Stadium. For the first 74 minutes, the Asian side was looking set to lose as the ‘favorites’ Germany was leading by 1-0. However, the likes of Ritsu Doan (75′) and Takuma Asano (83′) changed the complexion of the game. These goals helped the East Asian side create history by winning the game 2-1.
With this win, they are now on the verge of qualifying for the Round of 16 as they need to win at least one out of their two remaining games. They will play against Croatia. On the other hand, Germany will now have to win their remaining games to avoid group-stage exit. Not to forget, they lost to South Korea in 2018 in the group-stage which proved costly in the end. They had failed to defend their title.
