Watch: Jos Buttler batting like never before in the nets, video goes viral
Ahead of a World Cup, players do different preparation to outsmart the opposition. In 2011, Sachin Tendulkar batted left-handed in the nets prior to the ODI World Cup which India won. Notably, he didn’t play any reverse sweep or switch during the entire tournament. 11 years later, England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler is spotted batting as a left-hander.
In a video that is going viral, he was seen batting left-handed while facing Ben Stokes. The Three Lions are currently in Australia for a T20I series before the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Ahead of the second game, Buttler has been seen doing his antics. It will be interesting to see whether he ploy this method during the showpiece event. Many years back, Australia’s David Warner used to play some right-handed shots against spinners.

Recently, the 2019 World Cup winner got caught up in the middle of a controversy. Notably, Australia’s Matthew Wade stopped Mark Wood from taking a catch during the first game. The incident became the talk of the town. Shockingly enough, Buttler decided not to appeal for the obstruction in the field.
He was asked about the same after the game to which he said ““Maybe, they asked if I wanted to appeal and I said ‘no’. I’ve only just got to Australia so I thought just carry on with the game,” said Buttler in his post-match press conference when asked if he would have appealed for blocking the field if it was a T20 World Cup 2022 match.” The fans found it weird as he was one of those who stood against Deepti Sharma’s mankading.
It will be interesting to see if something like this happens in the World Cup game, will he still decide not to appeal. Notably, the Ashes rivals are slotted in the same group in the Super 12 round. Both teams were slotted in the same group last year as well. In that game, England thrashed the eventual winners.
