West Indies are touring Australia in a two-match T20I series prior to the start of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Caribbean men faced Australia on October 5, Wednesday, at Carrara Oval and it was West Indies who batter first. The Caribbean batters struggled to score against a robust Aussie pace battery. However, the batters kept coming up with classic West Indian shots at times and one of them came from Kyle Mayers in the fourth over. Facing Cameron Green, Mayers smacked the third ball of the over for a sizzling six over cover.

The fans, who went in awe of the shot, started sharing the video on social media. England’s famous cricket fan club, the Barmy Army, couldn’t restrict themselves from sharing the video on their Twitter account.

Here’s the video:

Australia clinch an amazing win

With regards to the first T20I between Australia and West Indies, the Caribbean put on a total of 145 runs on board at the end of the first innings. Mayers, who opened the innings for West Indies, also top scored with the bat with his 36-ball 39 runs. Odean Smith, who came in at number eight, scored 27 runs to push West Indies towards the total.

Australia, on the other hand, got off to a shaky start as they lost three wickets within the powerplay. Cameron Green, who toyed with the Indian bowlers in the previous series, crumbled for just 14 runs. The Kangaroos, after losing half of their men for just 58 runs, looked in deep trouble and it was the skipper Aaron Finch who rose to the occasion.

Nicholas Pooran, the Caribbean skipper said that they must have won the game and admitted that they messed up the opportunity.

“ Got a chance to win the game but we messed it up but we will look to get better. Guys are disappointed, happy the way the guys came out and fought, the important moments we did not capitalise, having said that catches win matches. The guys came off a plane two nights ago. We have the World Cup Qualifiers as well to play here. Really pleased with how Mayers batted, Cariah on debut and Joseph bowling really well today. Maybe if we had taken the catch in the last over, we could’ve won, but We learn from it, accept it, embrace it and move on,” Pooran said in the post-match presentation.
