WATCH: Narendra Modi meets Indian players in dressing room after ODI World Cup final 2023
India lost the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia, which turned out to be an unexpected result. Very few expected Australia to beat India, given the way the home side had performed in the tournament till the final. But as it turned out, Australia overcame the challenge and beat the home side. The entire India was shocked at the result, and it has not yet healed the wound for the players and the fans.
After the match, the players were seen disappointed with the loss. Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Siraj were seen in tears. To console the players, Narendra Modi visited the Indian dressing room after the match. The atmosphere in the Indian dugout seemed pretty dull and silent. It was the exact opposite of what fans were used to seeing during the entire tournament.
PM Modi tried to cheer up the Indian players by talking to them. Modi talked to Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli and appreciated them for their performance in the tournament. The two experienced batters were exceptional in the tournament with the bat and gave a memorable performance. Modi cheered them up by saying that wins and losses are part and parcels of the game.

Modi said that the whole team has entertained the fans with their performances in the tournament. Modi talked with other cricketers like Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. Modi congratulated Shami for his brilliant performance in the tournament. The Indian PM later asked the welfare of the other players and praised them for their performance. Modi congratulated Bumrah and praised his bowling in the tournament.
Modi congratulated other players like KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill for their contributions to India’s campaign. Modi sent the message that the whole country is proud of them. On social media, Modi shared his meeting with the Indian team. “Met the Men in Blue after the World Cup Final. India stands with them today and always,” wrote Modi on Instagram.
