‘We were all slightly nervous after India lost some early wickets’ – Ravindra Jadeja opens up on ODI World Cup 2011 final

India’s striking all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently went down the memory Lane, while discussing the heroics of the Indian cricket team during the ODI World Cup, 2011. Notably, India won the ODI World Cup 2011 after 28 long years of winning it back in 1983. The ODI World Cup 2011 was held in India and the team became the first team in the history of Cricket to lift the World Cup title at home.

The iconic 2011 World Cup still remains in the hearts and the memories of the fans considering the Indian cricket team has had back to back failures at the ODI World Cup in 2015 and 2019. All the team members and fans want the Indian cricket team to lift the ODI World Cup title once again in 2023 as the tournament will be conducted in the country once again after 12 years. Ravindra Jadeja talked about the nerve wrecking time the team spent together during the final match of the ODI World Cup 2011 against Sri Lanka.

“We had a practice session for IPL but it was cancelled as India were playing the World Cup final. All the teammates were sitting in the same room to watch the final. We were all slightly nervous after India lost some early wickets,” said Ravindra Jadeja. 

“But MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir turned the match around for us. I still remember everything from that night. It was a very special moment for Indian cricket. There are a lot of expectations from the fans to win the World Cup, especially if it is happening in India,” added Jadeja. 

“The World Cup takes place every four years, and this one is more special as it’s being played in India. As players, we know the conditions in India. It’s surely a big advantage for us. Winning the 2023 World Cup will bring back the memories of 2011 World Cup for the fans,” concluded Ravindra Jadeja.
