After completing the group stages, the ‘super four’ of this year’s Asia Cup kicked off on 3 September 2022. In the first match of this round, Afghanistan took on Sri Lanka. However, in the group stage, Afghanistan already defeated them in a one-sided affair. Hence, the stage was set for a thrilling battle between them again in Sharjah.
But, this time, Sri Lanka came out victorious with five balls to spare. But, Rashid Khan and Danushka Gunathilaka got involved in a heated exchange during the match. The video got viral and fans started to share the same on their social media platforms.

Rashid Khan took the wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka after he scored 33 runs off 20 balls
Speaking of that incident, it happened while Sri Lanka was chasing the target of 176 runs. Gunathilaka played a reverse sweep off Rashid. It did not please the Afghan spinner as he walked up to the batter and chirped a few words. Gunathilaka also said something in response to that. Then, another Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa stepped in the middle immediately to stop them.
Meanwhile, both Gunathilaka and Rashid gave each other a high-five. But, in that same over only, Rashid Khan took the wicket of that batter. Gunathilaka lost his wicket for 33 runs off 20 balls.
Speaking of the match, Afghanistan batted first and scored 175 runs by losing six wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 84 runs off 45 balls, including four boundaries and six over-boundaries. In reply, Sri Lankan batters chipped in with some crucial contributions. Apart from Gunathilaka’s 33 runs, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 31 runs off 14 balls only. He hit four boundaries along with a six. Thus, Sri Lanka managed to chase down the target with five balls to spare. Sri Lanka won the match against Afghanistan by four wickets. Gurbaz won the player of the match award for his blistering knock of 84 runs. Although, it went in vain as Afghanistan lost its first match in the Asia Cup 2022.
