The Windies’ skipper, Kraig Braithwaite played a brilliant knock of 75 runs off 235 balls which included five fours and a six in his innings. before getting bowled to India’s veteran off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. On the fourth ball of the 73rd over, Ashwin was able to get the ball to drift away from the right-hander. Once it reached the rough area and turned sharply in, it pulled Brathwaite to a front foot defense. His middle stump was broken by the ball after it passed through his body and bat.

I didn’t think it was possible: Kirk McKenzie
Even after Brathwaite was dismissed, the West Indies stuck to their game plan and put winning last on their list of priorities. Only 143 runs came in 67 overs, out of which 33 overs were maidens, came from West Indies’ willingness to take its time, block, or leave 67 overs. Playtime was cut short by 20 minutes due to poor lighting and two hours due to weather delays.
“It (playing for WI) means a lot. At the start of the year, I didn’t think it was possible. Grew up watching Kohli and Rohit Sharma bat, sharing the field with them, I was emotional. I should be disciplined against world-class spinners. Alick is a good friend, we’ve played a lot of A-cricket together, that’s where the friendship started. Very impactful (chat with Brian Lara), he told me to trust my process,” Kirk McKenzie was quoted as saying after the end of play on day three.
