India experienced a devastating loss against England at Lord’s as they failed to chase down a 247-run target. Indian batters failed to score while chasing as England Bowlers ran a riot on them. Top batters like Virat Kohli failed again as he got out for 16 runs off 25 balls only.

After the match, Rohit Sharma attended the press conference where reporters asked questions about Virat’s off-form. But, he came up with a benefitting reply to show his support to his veteran teammate during this tough time. However, the video got viral and got circulated quickly over Twitter.

Here is the shared video:

“Why is it happening, I do not understand” – Rohit Sharma

Speaking of the incident, reporters asked him that a lot of questions were raised after another failure of Virat Kohli in the second ODI against England at Lord’s. But, the Indian skipper said that he can not understand the questioning on Virat Kohli’s place in the playing XI.

He said: “Virat Kohli doesn’t need reassurance from him as he is too good a player. Why is there even a debate or discussion on Virat Kohli’s form? Like I said in the last press conference. When someone is scoring consistently for so long, we can’t overlook his contribution if he is not scoring in one or two series or in one or two years. We know the importance of Virat Kohli.”

Rohit also added that every cricketer goes through this rough phase as it is a part of their game. “Form upar neeche hota hai, player (Virat Kohli) ka quality kabhi kharab nahi hota hai. (There will always be ups and downs in the cricketer’s form but players’ quality will never fade away.) We should always keep in mind that there is a quality in certain players and we as a team back that quality. Every cricketer goes through this rough phase, it is a part and parcel of our lives,” he added to reporters.

“A player like him, who has played for so many years, scored so many runs, and has won so many matches, for him, only needs one or two good innings. That is my thinking and I am sure all those who follow cricket will think similarly,” Rohit concluded.

Speaking about Virat’s form, since 2019, 77 International innings are gone without any century across all three formats. He will be in action against England on 17 July 2022 at Manchester for the third and final ODI of this series.
