Recently, former Big Bash League champions, Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades in the ongoing 12th season of the tournament. It was a low-scoring encounter with the Sixers winning by 34 runs. Batting first, the Pink Brigade (Sixers) batted first after losing the toss. They amassed 149/8 with Josh Phillipe (55) scoring a fifty. None of the other batters could cross the 30-run mark.

In reply, the 2018-19 winners, the Renegades kept losing wickets which is they were never in the game. Meanwhile, in the 17th over of the game, Sydney all-rounder, Sean Abbott took a screamer at a boundary under the lights. Apparently, Will Sutherland played a lofted cut shot over point. The ball went high and didn’t have the distance to sail over the boundary.

Abbott ran and took a great catch to end Sutherland’s innings.

Talking about the game, the Western Melbourne-based side failed to chase down the total as they were all-out for 115 runs. They lost the game by 33 runs. For the Eastern Sydney side, Ben Dwarshius took a four-wicket haul and was adjudged player of the match.

After the game, he said “The wicket definitely favoured the bowlers but nice to come out there and take some wickets. It was nice, bowl a four-day length and the ball did a bit from there.” Meanwhile, both teams will once again face off on January 3 in a reverse fixture at Geelong. Meanwhile, with this win, the three-time winners, the Sixers have completed a hat-trick of wins. They started the tournament poorly with two back-to-back losses.

On the other hand, the Renegades have lost their second game in a row after winning starting their tournament with a hat-trick of wins.
